……Earlier, Muslim League had waved its ‘green flag’ for ‘Direct Action’ on 16th August, 1946 and Muslims butchered thousands of Hindus mercilessly, with indescribable cruelty. Congress was shaken to the core due to this act. Congress showed total lack of spirit of putting up a fight and not running away from battle ground.  Responding its talk of ‘non-reaction’, the then head of RSS, Guruji Golwalkar said bluntly, “There is a lot of talk about not picking up arms and not taking revenge. But, I cannot agree with this current language of not reacting; it is not something arising out of bravery. It is nothing but cowardice and about fooling ourselves. It is ‘adharma’, that is, immoral to inflict pain upon self.”……. Witnessing this atmosphere, English Tribune wrote, “Punjab is the sword arm of Hindustan and R.S.S. is the sword arm of Punjab.” Perturbed with this development, mouthpiece of Muslim League, Dawn, wrote, “If Congress leadership wishes to receive co-operation from Muslims, then it must ban Sangh immediately.”
