राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ और 1962 का युद्ध

सेना की मदद के लिए देश भर से संघ के स्वयंसेवक जिस उत्साह से सीमा पर पहुंचे, उसे पूरे देश ने देखा और सराहा. स्वयंसेवकों ने सरकारी कार्यों में और विशेष रूप से जवानों की मदद में पूरी ताकत लगा दी – सैनिक आवाजाही मार्गों की चौकसी, प्रशासन की मदद, रसद और आपूर्ति में मदद, और यहां तक कि शहीदों के परिवारों की भी चिंता.

जवाहर लाल नेहरू को 1963 में 26 जनवरी की परेड में संघ को शामिल होने का निमंत्रण देना पड़ा. परेड करने वालों को आज भी महीनों तैयारी करनी होती है, लेकिन मात्र दो दिन पहले मिले निमंत्रण पर 3500 स्वयंसेवक गणवेश में उपस्थित हो गए. निमंत्रण दिए जाने की आलोचना होने पर नेहरू ने कहा- “यह दर्शाने के लिए कि केवल लाठी के बल पर भी सफलतापूर्वक बम और चीनी सशस्त्र बलों से लड़ा सकता है, विशेष रूप से 1963 के गणतंत्र दिवस परेड में भाग लेने के लिए आरएसएस को आकस्मिक आमंत्रित किया गया.”

If we go back to news on domestic front at that time and figure out Communist role during 1962, we can see overt and covert Communist support to Chinese war effort.  The water transporting union in North East served a strike notice. This created problems for food and supply of other materials to Indo-Chinese border. Nationalist unions Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh understood the conspiracy and they withdrew all kinds of strikes and put all demands on hold. They gave a call to workers to increase production in defence production and assist in all defence related efforts.  They worked hard to restore supplies to the borders. Role of RSS during the war was so noteworthy that Pandit Nehru, no friend of RSS, invited RSS to the next Republic Day parade of January 1963 in which nearly 3000 swayamsevaks took part.  (‘RSS- Vision in Action’ by H V Sheshadri, Chapter 1, Page 30).
